Encontros em quarentena

Dizem que a pandemia é democrática. Que atinge todos por igual.
Mas quando pensamos nos modos de a enfrentar, sobram as desigualdades. Os que podem trabalhar a partir de casa e os que continuam a ter de deslocar-se para o seu local de trabalho. Os que fazem quarentena numa casa em condições e os que fazem quarentena em casas com condições indignas. Os que encontram na quarentena um lugar de segurança e os que vêm a sua casa transformada num espaço de violência. Para não esquecer todos os que enfrentam a pandemia privados da sua liberdade.
Diz-se que cada pessoa vive uma grande crise na sua vida. Esta é a segunda que vivemos. Num curtíssimo espaço de tempo. Como podemos reagir? Como podemos resistir? Como podemos projectar o futuro?
Se a crise nos revela um novo desejo pelo comum (os movimentos à varanda, a solidariedade entre vizinhos, os agradecimentos aos profissionais de saúde), expõe também as enormes diferenças - surgirão novas (ou expor-se-ão antigas) zonas de miséria e desigualdade nas cidades? Quais os discursos que ganham legitimidade sob a máscara da higienização da cidade? O que podemos aprender com o súbito esvaziamento das ruas? A paragem abrupta da produção? Das viagens?
Os ENCONTROS EM QUARENTENA surgem como espaço de diálogo entre o ateliermob e convidados de distintas áreas que, ainda antes da pandemia, enfrentavam os problemas da cidade, da resistência e da busca por um futuro em cooperação.

They say the pandemic is democratic. That it hits everyone equally. But if we think about the ways to face and fight it, inequalities surface: there’s the ones that can stay at home and the ones that keep commuting to work; the ones that quarantine at a good house and the ones that do it in houses with no conditions; the ones that have quarantine as a safe space and the ones that have their home turned into a space of violence and let’s not forget about the ones that face this pandemic deprived of their liberty.
It is said that each person faces a serious crisis through its lifetime. This is the second one for us, within a really short period. How can we react? How can we resist? How can we plan our future?
This crisis has a paradox within it: on one hand, it is showing a certain rise of the desire for the common (the balconies’ appropriation, the solidarity between neighbours, the appreciation of national health services and other invisible workers) but on the other it is exposing the severe social inequalities of our global societies.
What reflections could arise under the cover of city higiene and surveillance? What could we learn from the emptied streets? What does it mean to stop the logics of consumption, production and tourism so abruptly?
ENCONTROS EM QUARENTENA appears as a space of dialogue between ateliermob and guests from different disciplinary realms that even before this pandemic, were facing the issues of the city and resistance, searching for a future in cooperation.
