Quinta do Ferro is a neighbourhood in the historic centre of Lisbon, comprising three streets - A, B, and C - and bordered by the following roads: Rua Leite de Vasconcelos, Rua do Vale de Santo António, Rua de Entremuros do Mirante, Rua da Verónica, and Rua da Senhora da Glória. Although there are still some uncertainties regarding land ownership and proprietors, it is known that the Lisbon City Council (CML) is the largest property owner in the neighbourhood. Over 30 owners have already been identified and have participated in this process. The area's degradation, both public and private, is visible and well-known. The desire to transform this reality by a significant portion of the owners and residents has led to numerous meetings and extensive contact with all local stakeholders since November 2015.

The rehabilitation project/study of the Quinta do Ferro aims to provide social conditions in harmony with a citizenship and urbanism compatible with the 21st century while respecting the architectural, historical values, and the visual and landscape environment. This process will be developed in a participatory and collaborative manner between residents, property owners, and workers currently living in the area. From a participation standpoint, the intention is for the population of the Quinta do Ferro neighbourhood to be involved in the process of recording/surveying situations that require intervention and defining the criteria for prioritising these needs. The implementation of activities will raise awareness and mobilise residents/owners for specific situations in the neighbourhood.
