Some of architect Tiago Mota Saraiva's considerations were mentioned in a recent article on the A Mensagem website about plans for the future of the iconic cultural space in the heart of Lisbon, Parque Mayer. The article contains some reflections on how the future of the space could be better utilised and directed towards cultural dynamics, as it was at its inception in 1922.

Tiago says it's necessary to create ‘the conditions for Parque Mayer to once again become a place of permanence.’ The architect also believes that the strategies for reactivating the space followed a ‘logic of attracting investment’ and that ‘this was not the path the city should follow.

In his observation, Tiago adds that ‘It makes sense for there to be a cluster of theatre culture. Parque Mayer crossed popular and classical culture. There was a certain Lisbon tertulia there, and that's what it should be. But for that to happen, we need to stop people being pushed out of Lisbon.’
