Marquês de Abrantes Palace Work Nominated for the EUMIESAWARD 2022 - Mies van der Rohe 2022
We can call it tactical urbanism or placemaking. We may say that this is another experience on how neighbours can participate on the process of renovating important (almost unused) public building, or how a public building can lever an urban regeneration avoiding gentrification.
This is a process started in 2016 but that looks like a marathon where we are still doing the first steps.
Of course, we are specially glad and honoured with this nomination - the process has been already recognised internationally on different levels, and we do expect that this might help to accelerate our work here and to stimulate other groups and collectives that, at Lisbon and all over the country, had been fighting to prove that other forms of urbanism and city production are possible and, by the way, urgently needed.
